Updated Version of The Cholan Air Suspension
Leading - Trailing beams arrangement
This version of The Cholan Suspension is mainly for 52-inch axle bogie spread but can be extended for wider axle spreads. The main objective of this version is to have common parts between the front and rear axles for Meritor MT40-145 tandem axle which requires a 3.5 deg pinion shaft angle in the Front Drive Axle and 11.5 deg in the Rear Drive Axle at 52-inch bogie spread. All parts except the upper control arm are common between front and rear drive axles including spring beam, top bracket and U-bolts. This would save substantially in tooling cost which otherwise would need different spring beams, U-bolts, and many other parts for each (at least 4 different) vendor axles where the pinion angles need to be different. This was achieved by a simple angled spacer plate (also common between front and rear drive axles but flipped) between axle and the trailing arm assembly.
